Optimising complex processes in a targeted manner – for strong location promotion
The Challenge
Analyse complex location promotion processes and develop digital solutions that make workflows more efficient and improve service quality in the long term.
The Promotion Activities Directorate of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs pursues the goal of securing and strengthening the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Swiss economy in the long term, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. To achieve this goal, the Promotion Activities Directorate works across several units (SME policy, digital government, regional and spatial planning policy, tourism policy and export promotion/location promotion) and in close coordination with cantons, federal agencies and external partners.
In recent years, both internal processes and coordination processes with external actors have become significantly more complex. Different responsibilities, interfaces and growing requirements lead to longer processing times and increase the coordination effort, especially in the area of regional and spatial planning policy, a joint promotion instrument of the federal government and the cantons. This is where the challenge comes in.
As an Innovation Fellow, you will critically analyse existing processes and identify specific starting points for simplification, digitalisation and the targeted use of new technologies – including AI-supported solutions. Together with various units, you will develop practical optimisation measures and help to make processes more efficient and improve the quality of service for internal and external stakeholders. You will be working in an environment with high social and economic relevance.
